Emma Jones made an unbeaten 86 for The Blaze’s Second XI against Lancashire at Lady Bay, but it was Georgie Boyce’s 49 in the day’s other T20 fixture between the sides which proved more pivotal to the hosts securing one win from two.
Having restricted Lancashire to 134/8, with Katie Fidler taking three wickets, captain Boyce hit 49 from 36 balls to get her side off to the perfect start in the chase.
Despite departing in the 11th over, Boyce’s runs had set The Blaze up for a comfortable chase, with the target reached with 2.1 overs – and five wickets – to spare.

The Red Rose side ultimately reached their target with five balls to spare, courtesy of Riva Pindoria’s unbeaten 25-ball 41.

Fidler, meanwhile, turned in another strong performance as The Blaze academy took on Glamorgan in a T20, recording figures of 2/6 from two overs as the Welsh side made 142/6.
It was a total which ultimately proved sufficient, with captain Ellie Phillips’ 32 from 17 balls being the most significant contribution as her side was bowled out for 117 in 18.4 overs.
