Former Nottinghamshire and England opener Chris Broad is the first guest at a new season of meetings of the Nottingham Cricket Lovers’ Society.

This meeting will take place on Thursday 15 October at 7pm in the Press Box on the first floor of the Radcliffe Road Stand at Trent Bridge, with access to the ground through the Hound Road Gate.

Chris joined Nottinghamshire in 1984 and was a member of four trophy winning sides at Trent Bridge, including the double of County Championship and NatWest Trophy in 1987.

He was capped by England in 25 Tests and 34 One Day Internationals and enjoyed a stellar tour of Australia in 1986/87, scoring centuries in three successive Tests to help England win three trophies, including The Ashes.

Chris subsequently became a successful and respected ICC Match Referee, officiating in over 600 Tests and white ball fixtures across the cricketing world.

In the first part of the meeting, Heritage Volunteer Peter Smith will tell the story of ‘Nottingham’s ‘first’ first eleven’, commemorating the bi-centenary of our first first-class fixture, which took place in July 1826.

Everyone is welcome at meetings of the society. Individual membership of the society costs £20 per year - £30 for a couple and £5 for juniors.

Non-members are very welcome to attend an individual meeting at a cost of £10 in cash on the door.
