Joe Clarke and Orla Prendergast have been named as the Men’s and Women’s John Pye Auctions Player of the Month for April, respectively.

Top-order batter Clarke, who celebrates his 30th birthday next week, hit 449 Rothesay County Championship runs in April at a weighty average of 74.83.

He currently leads the competition’s overall individual standings, with Nottinghamshire unbeaten and sitting top of Division One with 91 points from six matches.

The Blaze are in an identical position in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, leading the way with 32 points at the halfway stage, nine clear of second-placed Surrey.

Irish international all-rounder Prendergast, who also celebrates her birthday soon - turning 24 on 1st June - contributed 167 runs at an average of 55.67 and two wickets.

She notably hammered vital back-to-back fifties, hitting 69 not out to guide The Blaze home against Essex, before striking 56 off just 30 balls to tee up a thrilling win over Warwickshire.

Vitality Blast captain Clarke was presented with his award in person ahead of leading the Outlaws for the first time this season against Yorkshire at Trent Bridge.

Meanwhile, Prendergast has returned to Ireland as her country prepare for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup which begins next month, with The Blaze captain Kirstie Gordon collecting the award.
