The Blaze’s pre-season tour to the UAE, which was originally scheduled to take place from Sunday 22nd March, has been cancelled.

In light of the ongoing situation in Iran and the Middle East, the previously-proposed camp in Abu Dhabi will now not take place.

“Ensuring the safety of our players and staff is always our number one priority, and so it’s with that in mind that we have made this decision,” said Director of Women’s Cricket, James Cutt.

“We are working at speed on alternative plans, and will share an update as soon as we are able to do so.

“In the meantime, the thoughts of everyone at The Blaze remain with everyone affected by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.”

Nottinghamshire’s men were also scheduled to visit Abu Dhabi in the days before The Blaze arrived, but have now confirmed an alternative destination of Pretoria in South Africa.

A planned pre-World Cup training camp for England Women in the region is no longer taking place, with the plans adjusted and the travelling group also diverted to South Africa.

Meanwhile, England Men’s Lions tour in the Emirati capital, which featured Nottinghamshire men’s players Tom Moores and Liam Patterson-White, was also curtailed earlier this week.

Further news on The Blaze’s rescheduled activities in the final weeks of pre-season will follow in due course.
