The Blaze Academy’s Maria Andrews and Diya Badge have been included in a 16-strong England Women Under-19 squad for a tri-series against Australia and Sri Lanka.
Hosted in Australia, the Three Lions will play a total of six games during the tri-series, which will be made up of one 50-over game and two T20s against both the hosts and Sri Lanka.
Head Coach Chris Guest said: “We’ve worked with this group of players across the winter, and the next stage of their development is to play competitive games of cricket against other nations.
“It will be nice to see the players put into practice areas that they have worked on through the winter both individually and as a team.”
Meanwhile, Flora Davies, also of The Blaze Academy, has been named as a non-travelling reserve for the squad.
“It’s equally exciting to spend more time developing further through a really competitive tri-series against two good teams,” continued Guest.
“Visiting Australia is always a good step forward in a player’s development, and it tests you out in new conditions.
“We’re really looking forward to it and it’s a trip that I’m sure will be hugely beneficial to the playing group.”
