Joe Clarke struck a quite magnificent unbeaten 146 as Nottinghamshire held off the weather to enjoy a strong day two against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.
Clarke amassed his runs alongside sharing in significant partnerships with Ben Martindale, who hit a maiden first-class fifty, and the returning Lyndon James, as the visitors reached 299-7 at stumps.
The right-hander unfurled several glorious strokes to reach fifty in 92 deliveries, before serenely progressing to a 169-ball ton, to the purring delight of those in attendance at an overcast Edgbaston.
In hitting his century, Clarke also passed 1,000 County Championship runs in 2026, becoming the first player from either division to do so and cementing his status as the competition’s most in-form batter.
