Lewis Gregory feels the bonds forged in the Trent Rockets camp have been crucial to their success, as the men’s side secured a fifth successive win.

Gregory, Meerkat Match Hero for his figures of 2/20, feels the team’s efforts off the field are paying off in results, the latest being a comfortable win over Birmingham Phoenix.

“One of the ig things we spoke about at the start of the tournament was connectivity,” he said.

“Guys are getting on really well off the park, and are getting behind each other, which is really nice.

“We’ve grown together as a group really quickly, which transfers onto the pitch.

“We’ve got some good momentum, we’re playing some really good cricket, and the guys are in a really good place.

“Hopefilly we can continue that momentum.”

Defeated by Phoenix in Birmingham in the season-opener, the Rockets have since gone on an unbeaten run to rise to the top of the table, and Gregory feels the side’s experience has been key.

“We’ve come a long way,” he said.

“We’ve got some unbelievable players in the dressing room, and they shown that over the past few games.

“What’s really exciting is we’ve got experienced heads that know what they’re doing, and when the moment comes, somebody stands up to be counted.”

With the Rockets currently occupying top spot, Gregory is focused on trying to secure a direct passage to the final on Sunday week.

“We know the advantage of going straight to the final, so that’s still on the bingo card,” he said.

“But we’ve got work to do in the next two group games.

“The lads will get their heads down now and be ready to go on Friday.”
