Masterful hundreds from Kathryn Bryce and Georgia Elwiss fired The Blaze to a 59-run DLS win over Durham as they comfortably defended a new record List A team total of 356-4 at Trent Bridge.

Bryce hammered 136 and Elwiss struck a career-best 134 not out as the hosts then dismissed Durham for 217 to consolidate their place at the top of the Metro Bank One Day Cup table.

It was a tenth win in 12 matches for Craig Cumming’s side, with even a mid-afternoon downpour and resulting DLS-calculated chase not putting them off their stride.

In pursuit of a revised target of 277 from 34 overs, the visitors were bowled out inside 31 as captain Kirstie Gordon claimed 4/54 and Grace Ballinger returned 3-44 to close out victory.

It was a day for records, as Bryce hit the highest score by a Blaze batter, while her partnership of 233 with Elwiss was a competition record for the third wicket in the women’s One Day Cup.

The hosts, having been asked to bat first, were 55-2 when Bryce and Elwiss took charge, finding the boundary regularly as Durham’s bowlers offered width on both sides of the wicket.

They took just 14 overs to post a 100-run stand, before doubling it in another 14, and Bryce’s ton, her sixth in List A cricket, came off 117 balls with 11 fours, many hit square on the off side.

Meanwhile, the resourceful Elwiss was quicker to her ton, taking 89 balls, with 14 fours, as she posted her first three-figure score since joining The Blaze ahead of the 2025 summer.

They were finally parted when Bryce was trapped in front trying to reverse-sweep the off-spin of Scotland teammate Katherine Fraser.

However, Elwiss continued on, surpassing her previous best of 115 for Southern Vipers and adding a further 34 from just 37 alongside Ireland international Orla Prendergast (27 off 18).

Facing an immense challenge, Durham slid into trouble when Gordon bowled Mia Rogers to leave the visitors 43-1 after 10 overs, only for the rain arrived.

Just two balls after the restart, captain Hollie Armitage swept Gordon to Prendergast to go for eight, and wickets continually fell throughout the innings.

Six of those wickets were bowled, as Gordon ripped through the top order to claim a season’s best haul, while the seam attack took the other six between them.

Ballinger returned to pick up three scalps after the rain break, while Kathryn Bryce forced an in-form Mady Villiers to play on with a deceptive delivery pushed wide of off-stump.

Villiers, having taken only 34 balls to hit her runs as she tried to keep her side in the chase, was replaced by Bess Heath, who was similarly destructive in firing 57 from 28 deliveries.

However, when Charley Phillips made Heath, alongside whom she won The Hundred with Trent Rockets just three days earlier, Durham’s ninth wicket, the game was up.

Phillips then saw off another of her Hundred teammates, Katie Levick - caught by a third Trent Rocket in the form of Elwiss - for a three-ball duck to wrap up a bonus-point win.

In so doing, she extended her lead at the top of the wicket-taking charts in this season’s competition, having claimed 24 scalps at just 14.95 apiece.

Accordingly, the victory also helped The Blaze retain their hold on the overall top spot, still four points ahead of Hampshire ahead of a trip to third-placed Warwickshire next week.
