Nottinghamshire mopped up the Essex tail and built a promising platform from which to launch a charge for victory in their Rothesay County Championship clash at Trent Bridge.
The hosts took the final five Essex wickets for 66 runs, before half-centuries from Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater, and an unbeaten 49 from Jack Haynes, established a 213-run lead at stumps.
