An experienced veteran of more than 50 all-format international appearances, and in possession of a CV that spans over two decades in total, all-rounder Elwiss signed for The Blaze from Southern Vipers in September 2024.

Her signing completed a return to the East Midlands, having previously spent four seasons with Lightning between 2016 and 2019, but her cricketing journey began more than ten years before that, with her List A debut coming for Staffordshire against Middlesex in July 2004.

The then-13-year-old Elwiss gave an instant indication of her considerable potential, returning restrictive figures of 1/6 from four overs, and continued to play for Staffordshire until 2011, when she made the move south to Sussex.

Towards the end of her time with Staffordshire, she spent two winters representing Australian Capital Territory Women, before being rewarded with an England ODI call for a tour to South Africa in October 2011.

She would go on to represent her nation in all three formats, with her T20 bow coming later on that same tour, and the first of four Test caps following four years later, against Australia in Canterbury.

Elwiss, who also counts stints with Birmingham Phoenix and Welsh Fire in The Hundred among her experience, continued to represent Sussex until 2022, alongside playing four seasons for Vipers under the regional model.

She scored over 1,700 runs and claimed 48 wickets across both List A and T20 cricket while on the south coast, before opting to return to the East Midlands ahead of 2025.
