Awaiting Nottinghamshire First-Class debut

Conor McKerr’s career has come full circle, as, after making his First-Class debut as a visitor to Trent Bridge, the giant South African-born fast bowler has now made Nottinghamshire his second permanent home in county cricket.

Having been a member of South Africa’s Under-19 squad for the 2016 World Cup, McKerr emigrated from his birth nation at the age of 18 to join Surrey, publicly recognising his hopes of one day playing for England.

A period on loan at Derbyshire followed his arrival on these shores, during which he made his aforementioned County Championship bow at the venue he now calls home, before impressing for the Brown Caps in their title-winning season of 2018.

Although he has over 130 wickets in all formats of county cricket, injuries have somewhat since been McKerr’s unfortunate foe, and after further time spent out on loan - including a previous stint with Notts - he left Surrey permanently for pastures new in the East Midlands in 2024.
